Spring and Fall are the best time to do Family portraits, as a Family photographer, I recommend those two seasons because it’s not as hot as it is in Summer or cold as it is in Winter. Another reason is in April and May trees bloom and in September and October the beautiful foliage.
This family I did couple weeks ago in their back yard. Now many people think that you need to go somewhere stunning, we don’t have a special place like that just for the photo shoot. Many parks are a good place to go but if everyone is patient in your family it’s worth a trip but many kids will give us maybe 30 minutes of their attention. If children start to misbehave many parents just get very upset because they used the time to get children dressed and drive to the park to get only a few nice photos. To make things easier, I usually try to stay around the house for any kids that are age 5 and younger. I will show you that you can still get very cute photos of them by having a focus on the children using a zoom lens. The backgrounds become so blurry that you can’t even see what is behind them.
I would like to show you the family portraits of this beautiful family. I brought the background and placed it in front of the sun around 10 am on their small deck and then we went to their townhouse and took some pictures around their landscape. I showed those photos yesterday and printed them out in a decent size so they can see photos much better. Viewing on a computer is not the best way sometimes because the photos get extra light and when you print them they look different.
