As a pregnancy photographer, I am always asked about where is the best location to have maternity portraits done. I have been doing this over 14 years and I can say I have done them all. I have done outside during snow, in the park in the hot weather, one the beach in a wind and hundreds in the studio. It all depends on where you would like to do them and how you would you like them to be taken. If you want simple background but have wonderful poses or very open clothes or no clothes than I suggest studio.
If you are interested in beautiful backgrounds and in natural light then my suggestion is outside. Nowadays it is not only about green beautiful trees. Style of natural outside photos has expanded far and wide. I have seen people stand on ice or on the mountains and so on. To create beautiful photos these days it’s more about your style of clothes. No more of jeans and a white t-shirt that we were dealing with for the past 20 years. Many people like to wear either ethnic clothes or something dressier.
For my maternity moms, I purchase dresses that are custom made. They are not from some regular stores but I have gone few for the style or their color as well. I have some of them already in y before and afters and I have some that I haven’t used it.
