Friday night I received a call from someone in my family. I have been their family photographer for the past 10 years, emergency call, one of the relatives had a sweet 16 birthday party bash and didn’t hire a New Jersey event photographer. Hired two booth photographers but not an event photographer. My husband was away and I was thinking of spending time with kids next day but you have to help out people. I called for a babysitter and called back and told them that I am coming.
The party was one of the best I have ever seen. The theme was ocean and everything was blue. Every detail was just perfect and wonderful. It was just stunning. The dj booth added some beautiful colors to the hall and it really looked like were under the sea. The bus full of children arrived and 90 percent of the girls were short black dresses and 90 percent of the boys were wearing khakis and shirts. Everyone was happy and excited to party. Since it was already getting a little dark and the birthday girl was hiding from everyone, we had to take pictures in the hallways. As soon she walked in, everyone gathered to one bunch and stayed that way almost the whole night. Nowadays, kids don’t spread out, they stand in one big collection and barely dancing but singing the lyrics to the rap songs.
I am old fashion girl and I love to dance so for me it was a little weird and hard to take photographs since everyone has their back to me. So I tried to get into the crowds by raising my camera. Many photographs came out cute. Since there were so many colors used by DJ, I actually shot many photos without flash. Flash would take that away and make flat photographs.
