Just a quick reminder about maternity photography. As a New Jersey Maternity Photographer for the past decade, I have been asked the same questions. One of the most popular questions is, “when should I do my maternity photos”? My answer is always the same, before the 36th week. This is usually when the baby drops to the pelvis and it makes a very uncomfortable position for many moms. For your photo shoot you want to be relaxed, happy and comfortable. I ask women to sit, stand or sit on their side and sometimes to even lay down. This is usually uncomfortable positions for the moms that ready to have their baby in a few weeks. We want to avoid any discomfort at this time. Please don’t wait until last minute to capture your pregnancy photos.
The second question is “Where should I do my session”? My answer is very simple, anywhere you want but it confuses moms because they don’t have a clear vision of where exactly they want to do it. My first option is your home or around your house. If there is a park nearby or you live where its easy access to beautiful locations and they don’t have to be fields or parks. It can be done at your small downtown, or maybe by some industrial park to make your photos look urbaner. You also can capture some photos in your nursery, since many women already design the baby’s room.
This year I am also doing some milk bath photos where we add milk to your warm bath and add some flowers to make your photos look even more stunning. I also suggest customers that we can do fun photos as well. Maybe you have a weird craving and we can take pictures of you eating your favorite food. My other option for my customers is to capture few items that were given to their precious baby, like booties or toys or even some blankets.
