I met Tori through Facebook but don’t try to find me there any more. Facebook became my drug and I decided to quit it cold turkey. I was in Westfield-Cranford Mom’s Club since few of my clients are from that area. I placed the model call for another project that I am doing at the same time. I needed extra maternity moms for my shoot. Tori was almost one of the first people to contact me. I checked her profile and thought she looked pretty cool and since I have obsession with natural beautiful red hair. I decided to answer her back and invite her to come in to the studio to do a quick session for free.
As any other client Tori didn’t know what to bring with her to the maternity photography session and I explained to her that I like to use large scarfs for covering and tight dresses to show the body and of course the most important, the belly! Any accessories like hats and jewelry and even shoes is plus to enhance your photos . She did a great job, by bringing a fur vest and a hat and also two very nice and sexy dresses in perfect color for her skin tone and for her hair. I always start the photo session from something basic since I want my clients to get used to idea that I am taking photos of them and giving them time to relax. If I see that the client loves the camera and has no problems of posing and changing the attitude and being very flexible and open for posing , then we move to something much better.
I love basic, I am very basic girl, to me the ” less is more” quote is the drive of my life. Portraits should be about the person and not for their surroundings. I understand that taking photos outside can be the most beautiful thing but studio allows you to open your soul. My love for basic backgrounds haven’t changed for over a decade. I don’t know why but I’m just in love with photos of people on plain backgrounds. I want the focus to be on them and not on the products or colors behind them. For me its all about the poses and nothing else. Its always about the pose, a great pose will make a great photograph. So a person should be comfortable with the pose and have no problem of doing it. The photos come out much better when a person is comfortable and you can actually see it. You have to be comfortable and be ready for your session.
